Hamid Motebassem …
… was born on Aug 15, 1958, in Mashhad, Iran.
Education:
Tehran College of Art Education and the Tehran National Conservatory of Music (1974-79).
Teachers:
- Târ: Ali Motebassem, Habibollah Saleh, Zeydollah Tolu’I, Houshang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh, Mohammad Reza Lotfi.
- Music Theory: Parviz Mansouri, Mostafa Pourtorab, Arno Diteren.
- Music Literature: Dr. Nirsina, Dr. Nehshat
Professional Activities:
- Began teaching in Iran in 1977 at the Mashhad National Radio and TV Music Workshop, Chavosh Music and Cultural Center and Chang Music Center.
- Has continued his teaching career overseas since 1978 across multiple European cities, including at SCHUNCK, a multidisciplinary cultural institute in The Netherlands.
- Member of the Aref Ensemble in Iran.
- Founded Chakavak Ensemble in Germany (1989).
- Founded Dastan Ensemble in Germany (1991).
- Founded Mezrab Ensemble in The Netherlands (2005).
- Founded and conducted the International Pardis Orchestra in the Netherlands (2008).
- Founded the Setâr and Târ Society in Germany (1995), organized annual music seminars.
- Has given over 1500 performances worldwide, including solo and group performances in festivals across Iran and internationally.
- Co-founding the Damsaz ensemble in the Netherlands in 2021 with Samira Golbaz.
- Host of “Motebassem Music School” YouTube channel, with collaboration of Samira Golbaz, offering free music education on Târ, Setâr and fundamentals of Persian classical music.
- Member of the Aref Ensemble in Iran.
